Freeze!

So...Blake and I need more freezer room. The little freezer on our side-by-side fridge model is just not cutting it, especially now that I've had to arrange for storage of frozen milk. The question is, do we want a chest freezer model or an upright model? Any ideas?

Chest.

depends on where you are putting it, just make it fit in the space

but we grew up with a chest freezer, so i'm more inclined to lean that way...you can just pile stuff in and not have to worry about making it fit on shelves :)

I Say chest freezer!! Just cause mom and dad have one and I'm more used to them. A Stand up freezer I think you would run out of room faster...but that's just me.

Chest. I agree with Janelle that you can just pile everything in. Plus, if you somehow end up with a giant rack of meat, the length of the chest would be nice.

We have the upright and I love it because we don't have to "dig" to find anything. My parents have the chest and it always seemed like what we needed was on the bottom after I dug through everything!
But I think I have been outvoted :)

If you're concerned about energy efficiency at all, I believe chest freezers are supposed to be better than upright ones for the same reason that the bottom-drawer freezers on fridges are better than top-freezer fridges or side-by-sides: the cold air wants to go down, and the chest freezer takes advantage of that by keeping the coldest air inside when you open it. I'm pretty sure I'm not just entirely making that up :)
